REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN THE ARMED FORCES

NIGERIAN ARMY SSC AND DSSC REQUIREMENTS
SSC( Short Service Commissions) and DSSC( Direct Short Service Commissions) ranks are both for graduates.

An SSC officers are commissioned for a shorter period, usually 10-14 years, compared to Permanent Commission (PC) officers who serve until retirement.

SSC officers are often recruited through competitive exams, interviews, or direct entry schemes. They play a vital role in supporting the armed forces’ operations, and their shorter service period allows for fresh perspectives and new talent to enter the forces.

In Nigeria, SSC officers are commissioned through the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) or Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) programs.

NIGERIAN ARMY SSC REQUIREMENTS

1. Applicants must be a Nigerian Citizen
2. The Applicant must be between 22 and 28 years old.
3. Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) not lower than Second Class Division.
4. Not be a serving member of the Nigerians Armed forces es or there security agencies.
5. Applicant must not have any criminal record or be convicted by a court of law.
6. Male applicant must be atleast 1.68m tall, and Female applicant should be atleast 1.65m tall.
7. A valid birth certificate
8. NYSC certificate or a valid certificate of exemption is required for all candidates except serving members of the armed forces
9. All applicant must pass a physical fitness test
10. A valid address and contact number of parents/guardians.
11. Applicant Must provide original copies of all academic certificates
12. Applicant must meet medical standards (vision, hearing, body mass index, etc.)
13. Applicant must not be a member of any secret society.

Additionally, you must also:

1. Apply online through the Nigerian Army’s recruitment portal
2. Creat and account and register
3. Submit required documents (e.g., degree certificates, birth certificate, NYSC certificate)
4. Save and print your attestation form
5. Wait for SSC shortlist
6. Once you’ve been shortlisted attend a selection interview and examination
7. Candidates who pass will get a joining letter from the Nigerian Army

 

NIGERIAN ARMY DSSC REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants must be a Nigerian Citizen
2. The Applicant must be between 22 and 35 years old.
3. Applicant must be physically, mentally and medically fit.
4. Applicant must have no criminal record.
5. Candidate must posses at least first degree with no less than 2nd class lower division or HND with no lower credit in arts, sciences and humanities.
6. A valid birth certificate
7. No tattoo on the body.
8. NYSC certificate or a valid certificate of exemption is required for all candidates except serving members of the armed forces
9. A valid address and contact number of parents/guardians.
10. Applicant Must provide original copies of all academic certificates
11. Applicant must meet medical standards (vision, hearing, body mass index, etc.)
12. Applicant must not be a member of any secret society.

HOW TO APPLY FOR DSSC
1. Apply online through the Nigerian Army’s DSSC recruitment portal
2. Register
3. Submit required documents (e.g., degree certificates, birth certificate, NYSC certificate)
4. Wait to be shortlisted
5. Once you’ve been shortlisted go for a screening test
6. Interview
7. Candidates who pass will get a joining letter form the Nigerian DSSC.
